Quartered Leopardwood

Leopardwood has a very conspicuous flecking that gives this wood its namesake. The wood itself is a medium to dark reddish brown with grey or light brown rays, which resemble the spots of a leopard. It is a dense heavy wood with a fairly coarse texture and generally straight grain. Leopardwood is often used to turn small objects like fountain pens or used in veneer form to create a variety of string instruments.
